In what resembles various scenes from the movie “Jurassic Park,” Royal Hawaiian Golf Club features a swath of crafty hole layouts designed by Pete Dye and his son Perry. The course is molded from tumbling terrain framed by an ancient jungle at the foot of the Koolau Mountains on Oahu’s windward side.
With trees towering nearly 100 feet tall, abounding natural water features, whipping winds, and ample lush vegetation, Royal Hawaiian creates royal challenges for players of all skill levels. The 153-yard par-3 12th hole is chock full of challenges as the flag is nestled on an island green, but instead of navigating a water hazard, golfers who miss the green face losing their ball in the unadulterated vegetation.
