More and more visitors are discovering a jewel on the Windward side — the town of Kailua. It's where President Barack Obama stays on his holiday visits to the islands.
Kailua is not only known for it's laid-back lifestyle, gorgeous beaches and delightful shops, but a hotspot for family-owned breakfast spots. You'll find most of these eateries have lines on any given day (especially weekends), so it's always good to be there early to beat the rush.
One of the understated local favorites is Moke’s Bread & Breakfast, owned and run by the Warren family.
The tangy and sweet lilikoi (passion fruit) pancakes come from their grandmother’s 80-year-old recipe, and the corned beef hash is handmade and not to be missed.
Try their Benedicts, too, if you have room.
