Baggage Fees
Carry-On Baggage
You’re welcome to bring on board one piece of carry-on baggage and one personal item.
What’s a personal item? It’s one of the following:
- Purse
- Briefcase
- Laptop bag
- Backpack or similar item
And your carry-on bag must be within the following limits:
- Maximum Dimensions: 22" length x 14" width x 9" height (45 linear inches)
- Maximum Weight: 25 pounds (11.5 kg)
Check-In Luggage
It’s a fact of life: Travel means dealing with baggage. We’ve simplified things as much as possible in the table of charges below.
Baggage fees are assessed per piece, each way and are non-refundable.
If getting to your destination involves traveling on more than one airline on a single ticket, DOT regulations govern which airline's baggage rules will apply for the entire journey. A stopover along the way of more than 4 hours may mean you will be charged point-to-point baggage fees.
Baggage Restrictions and Fees
The following baggage fees apply to baggage that meets the below requirements:
Maximum Dimension (length + width + height): 62 linear inches (157 cm);
Maximum Weight: 50 pounds (23kg)
Checked Bags up to 50 lbs and 62 linear inches |

*Restrictions may apply. HawaiianMiles members will enjoy reduced 1st and 2nd checked baggage fees when flying between the Neighbor Islands, traveling wholly within the State of Hawaii—for example, on a ticket from Honolulu (Oahu) to Kahului (Maui). A ticket from JFK (New York) to Kahului with a connection in Honolulu is considered a North America ticket, so North America bag fees apply. Discount applies to confirmed Hawaiian Airlines revenue tickets and flight award tickets redeemed with HawaiianMiles. Discount is applicable on any fare class ticket and will only be applied when your HawaiianMiles number is present in your reservation, or added prior to completing the check-in process.
*Pualani Platinum members may check in their first three (3) bags free of charge. Applies to members only. Applicable overweight and excess baggage fees will apply. The next additional bag will be charged at the 4th bag fee.
*Pualani Gold members may check in their first two (2) bags free of charge. Applies to members only. Applicable overweight and excess baggage fees will apply. The next additional bag will be charged at the 3rd bag fee.
Purchasing tickets through codeshare partners: In compliance with DOT regulations, Hawaiian Airlines must be the marketing carrier on your itinerary for this benefit to apply (i.e. your ticket must show a Hawaiian Airlines flight number for the first flight on the ticket). If you are a member of HawaiianMiles and another airline’s frequent flyer program, your HawaiianMiles number must be the only frequent flyer number present in your reservation. This also means you will earn HawaiianMiles for your entire itinerary; mileage credit will not be posted to any other frequent flyer program.
Hawaiian Airlines World Elite MasterCard: The primary cardholder is eligible to earn one (1) complimentary first checked bag on Hawaiian Airlines-operated flights. International flights are excluded. Offer is also not valid for codeshare flight segments operated by Hawaiian Airlines and marketed by other airline partners. All ticket purchases (original and exchanges) must be made with the Hawaiian Airlines World Elite MasterCard premium product and purchased directly from Hawaiian Airlines. HA Vacation Package purchases do not qualify as direct purchases from Hawaiian Airlines. Applicable overweight and excess baggage fees will apply. The one (1) complimentary checked bag is valued at the first checked bag fee ($25 for Domestic flights and $17 for Neighbor Island flights purchased on/before March 9th, 2014 or $15 for flights purchased on/after March 10th, 2014). Any additional checked bags will be charged at the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc. baggage fee.
Elite Members and Premier Club Members who are also the primary cardholder of the Hawaiian Airlines World Elite MasterCard will receive one (1) complimentary checked bag in addition to their membership baggage allowance when purchasing Domestic or Neighbor Island tickets directly from Hawaiian Airlines using their Hawaiian Airlines World Elite MasterCard. The one (1) complimentary checked bag is valued at the first checked bag fee ($25 for Domestic flights and $17 for Neighbor Island flights purchased on/before March 9th, 2014 or $15 for flights purchased on/after March 10th, 2014). Any additional checked bags above your total allowance will be charged at the next sequential bag fee. For example, a Pualani Platinum member who is also a Primary Cardmember and checks in five (5) bags may check in the first four (4) bags free of charge and will be charged at the 5th bag fee for the fifth bag.
