Pets are a part of your Ohana and their comfort and safety are important to us. Due to FAA mandated carry-on luggage size restrictions and State or Government mandated quarantine restrictions, there are times when your pet may not be able to be stowed safely in cabin with you. For those times, we will be happy to accommodate your pet in our pressurized, temperature-controlled cargo compartments of our aircraft.

If your pet is a household bird, rest assured that we accept birds as check-in pets, too. For more information, click here.

If you’re traveling with a certified Service Animal, you’ll find more information here.

The animal kennel must:

  1. Be a hard-sided plastic kennel approved for airline transportation
    • Our agents will not accept a soft-sided, collapsible kennel or all-wire cage
  2. Have adequate handholds to enable lifting without coming in contact with your pet
  3. Have a protecting rim of 3/4 inch so that the ventilation openings will not be blocked if the kennel is placed next to a solid surface
  4. Have a securely fastened door and any latching mechanisms must be accident-proof
  5. Be labeled with your name, address and contact phone number at destination.

Keeping Your Pet Comfortable

To ensure the safety and comfort of your pet:

  1. You may have only 1 animal per kennel

Exception: Up to 2 puppies or kittens (fully weaned and between 8 weeks and 6 months old) may be carried in one kennel, provided they do not exceed a total weight of 25 lbs

  2. There should not be a leash or restraining device attached to your pet
  3. Place a drip water bottle in the kennel (Hawaiian Airlines does not provide food or water for pets)
  4. Have an absorbent material (blanket, towel, shredded paper, absorbent pad) in the kennel
  5. Ensure your pet is harmless, inoffensive, odor-less and will not require attention during the flight.
